  AAC communication tablet

  Samuel

  Cortical vision damage

  Stargard

Samuel is eight years old and has faced tremendous challenges since his first moments of life. He was born with asphyxia – his body fought for every breath. On the third day of life, he suffered a stroke, which irreversibly affected his health.

The boy’s eyesight was also damaged. Samuel can’t see the world as we do – he suffers from optic nerve atrophy and hydrocephalus. It was necessary to implant a special valve to protect his brain.

Today he faces epilepsy and neurological problems, and his heart is weaker than in healthy children.

Samuel’s daily life is characterized by mobility problems, muscle tension, and pain, which causes quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Every day is a struggle for him, but he doesn’t give up.

Samuel doesn’t walk, doesn’t sit up on his own, doesn’t speak, and doesn’t see the world around him the way we perceive it. It is not entirely clear exactly how much the boy can see. However, he has a sense of light, and that gives hope!

Samuel communicates exclusively through AAC—alternative communication. Otherwise, he is unable to speak to his parents about how he feels and what he needs. He doesn’t notice his parents who are next to him, and he won’t tell them that something hurts him.

But there is a tool that can change this, that will allow him to discover the world and communicate with it. That solution is Neurotab, a specialized tablet created for children with CVI and complex neurological damage.

This is not an ordinary tablet – it is a specialized device for neurorehabilitation. It helps develop cognitive functions, exercise vision, and teach alternative communication through touch. Children with visual impairments like Samuel’s can work on it, even if they are unable to focus their eyes for more than a few seconds.

Samuel has already had the opportunity to use similar equipment during rehabilitation camps and at the Paley Institute in Warsaw – with good results. Under the guidance of specialists, he was able to indicate what he was feeling and what he needed. These moments were priceless and touching – for the first time his family could communicate with him.

And it can be that way every day. Thanks to the Neurotab, Samuel’s chance to grow, communicate with his family and have a better quality of life. This device will ensure that the boy’s loved ones know what he wants to show them, whether something hurts him, or what he needs. This is the key to his world.

The doctor under Samuel’s care confirms that Neurotab is the only available solution tailored to his condition. Supporting the purchase of this device is not only a help – it is a gift of understanding and hope for Samuel and his family.

Let’s help Samuel express himself and communicate with the world!

Our Achievements So Far

How can we help together?

You make a donation to the Kanga Foundation’s account in the cryptocurrency of your choice.

Once a specified value of
cryptocurrencies is collected, the Kanga Foundation
converts them into PLN.

The Kanga Foundation team purchases the necessary equipment and delivers it to those in need.

Help us fulfill the dreams of those in need!

Material things alone don’t bring happiness, but they can significantly ease life. Having the right orthopedic, auditory, rehabilitation equipment, communication aids, or other assistive devices makes life much easier for people with disabilities.

Here’s why it’s worth supporting our efforts:

Responsibility

We vet candidates for support, ensuring that your contributions go where they are truly needed.

Efficiency

In the past 6 months, we have successfully completed 6 fundraising campaigns. Each of these has provided concrete help to children.

Transparency

We convert the collected cryptocurrencies into PLN and purchase equipment, overseeing the process to ensure that every złoty is spent wisely.

FAQ

What cryptocurrencies can I pay with?

You can use any cryptocurrency that can be exchanged for the stablecoin oPLN (a stablecoin pegged to the Polish złoty, PLN) on trade.kanga.exchange. A list of available cryptocurrencies will be displayed during the payment process. Through an internal transfer or on the blockchain, you can pay with any cryptocurrency.

Do I need to be a Kanga customer to donate to the foundation?

It is not necessary. If you would like to donate your cryptocurrencies to a specific collection via Kanga Pay or internal transfer, create an account at trade.kanga.exchange and fund your wallet. The amount will be debited from your wallet. If you would like to support the foundation by sending crypto over the blockchain or making a bank transfer – you don’t need an account on the Kanga exchange.

How can I donate to the current fundraising campaign?

There are 4 options available to you:

  • Through Kanga Pay: after clicking the “support” button and selecting a donation value, generate a Kanga Pay code. You can generate the code either by clicking on the “Kanga Pay” menu after logging into trade.kanga.exchange or in the Kanga Wallet mobile app.
  • By internal transfer: following the instructions, which are here.
  • Over the blockchain network: log into your wallet (hardware, browser-based – such as Metamask or other), select a currency, from https://kanga.exchange/pl/fundacja (TAKE NOTE OF WHAT NETWORK YOU ARE SENDING ON), paste the address into your wallet, enter the transfer amount and confirm.
  • By bank transfer.
What if you don’t raise enough money to buy the equipment?

Our fundraising campaigns are not time-limited, so we do not anticipate this scenario. However, if for some reason the fundraising is stopped – we will inform you about it and choose the best solution.

What guarantee do I have that you will buy equipment for someone with my cryptocurrencies?

When you click the ‘donate’ button beneath the fundraising progress bar, we are committed to using your donation specifically for the intended fundraising purpose. If, on the other hand, you support the foundation by other means – the funds can also be used for such expenses as marketing the collection/foundation or travel to the wards to hand over the purchased equipment. This also applies to any excess funds you contribute (i.e., donations exceeding the target amount needed to conclude the fundraising).

What is the minimum donation amount?

You can donate to the foundation’s statutory purposes by transferring even 1 penny to our bank account! For supporting a specific fundraising, the minimum donation is set at a value equivalent to 1 PLN in cryptocurrencies. Of course, we encourage higher donations 🙂

Do I incur any additional fees as a donor?

When donating via Kanga Pay, a fee of 0.5% of the transaction amount is automatically charged (the fee is charged in connection with the service provider’s activities and does not constitute any compensation to the Foundation). After the collection, when selling the collected cryptocurrencies to purchase FIAT currencies and for the subsequent purchase of equipment, an intermediary commission is charged to GoCash in the amount of 0.4%. In a situation where you deposit money through a traditional bank transfer – the price list of the bank where you have an account applies.

What equipment can I apply to you as a person in need?

This can include, but is not limited to: a wheelchair, orthosis, orthopedic seat, hearing aid, speech aid, verticalizer, stationary bicycle, and even a car seat! The equipment catalog is open – if you need something different – tell us about it and we will consider it!
