39. Metaverse – TOP 15 virtual reality projects

The Metaverse is already among us and growing in strength. It will become an increasingly tangible reality in the coming years. The Blockchain developer community is betting heavily on such projects to bring a different form of usability to this technology. Not only in terms of popularity, but also in terms of the services and projects offered. There are quite a few of the latter. Today we will focus on several of them, which are worth a closer look. Enjoy reading!

Metaverse projects operate using digital assets. Some presented projects and tokens are the best in terms of market capitalization. However, we will also mention some that are worth getting to know. If you are still not sure what Metaverse is and how it works, take a look at our previous lesson, in which we explain all the necessary terms in detail. Time to go!

  1. Decentraland and the MANA token

The project was founded in 2015, but it was 2017 that was the breakthrough for it. It is a Metaverse built on the Ethereum blockchain, with one of the better established positions on the cryptocurrency market. It’s a virtual world based entirely on blockchain technology. Using it, you own plots of land, artworks, and NFTs. As a member of the system, you also participate in the organization of the platform, which is completely decentralized.

Decentraland is divided into as many as 90,000 plots of land. In the pre-sale rounds, most of them sold out literally in seconds. Demand for this Metaverse was high and is still high.

The native token is MANA. It is spent per plot or burned. Of course, such a plot is fully located in the virtual world. It is a digital asset located on an Ethereum smart contract.

The second token is LAND, a non-exchangeable token compliant with the ERC-721 standard. The idea is that each LAND token uniquely identifies the ownership of a parcel of land belonging to a Decentraland user. For example, each piece of land has its own unique characteristics, so each LAND token represents all of those characteristics. To acquire a LAND token, the user must exchange their MANA tokens for LAND, an action that burns the MANA tokens, making them more rare and valuable.

Due to the relationship between LAND and MANA, the existence of this token is also limited, and its creation corresponds to smart contracts that participate in the internal exchange of MANA for LAND.

Decentraland is one of the most well-known and common Metaverse projects. Delving deeper into the subject, you are sure to come across this name more than once.

  1. Axie Infinity and the AXS token

This is a universe inspired by Pokémon and Tamagotchi games. You can play it on phone and PC. The game is about creating, breeding and fighting adorable creatures with different abilities.

This ecosystem, based on the Ethereum network, also includes a marketplace where players can buy and resell creatures, lands, and even items. All of its elements are present in the ecosystem in the form of NFT (Non-Fungible Token), which allows users to own real property.

Axie Infinity is the progenitor when it comes to popularizing Play-to-Earn games. The creatures have shown the whole world what it means to earn while having such a pleasure as a game.  Axie has its native AXS token.

  1. The Sandbox and the SAND token

Do you like Minecraft and Roblox? Then the Sandbox should appeal to you. It got a lot of buzz in 2019. In this project, we can create our own objects or own land. Of course, these are treated as NFT. They are ours, so we have the right to sell them to other users. Thanks to this, we earn money. The platform also allows us to buy items from other platform users. The ecosystem’s native token, -SAND, was initially only used to buy assets on the platform, either virtual land or equipment for your avatar. However, SAND is not only a utility token, but also a management token – holders can influence decisions about the future of the platform.

SandBox is a very ambitious project that meets all the criteria required to satisfy the community and thus continue. Although the game is still in development, the tools present on their platform allow all users to create, animate and share their own virtual universe. Such diversity is now very unusual in the world of Play to Earn, and even in the Metaverse in general. Especially since they have already made many collaborations with various studios and even famous personalities around the world.

In conclusion, yes, SandBox has a lot of potential, but it is necessary that they continue to diversify and offer content on their platform.

  1. Cryptovoxels

Often referred to as the “Minecraft of NFT”. It is a virtual world created on the Ethereum blockchain. The ERC721 token was used to create it. Being a player, thanks to it you can: create an avatar, shop, art gallery or buy virtual plots of land. The world is presented in pixelated form, but retains all the dimensions of aesthetics. The project also allows you to take part in virtual concerts, exhibitions, and meetings with artists.

Cryptovoxels was launched in 2018 by Nolan Consulting Limited. It’s an independent, New Zealand-based games studio founded by Ben Nolan. It’s a simple app, but we recommend VR reality support to double your experience.

  1. Enjin and the ENJ token

This is a blockchain platform that focuses on creating NFTs that are used in games and Metaverse projects. The project provides SDKs (software development kits) that help the average layman create Ethereum-based NFTs. If you don’t find a buyer for your token, you can melt it down at Enjin. In return, you get ENJ coins. This is a big plus for the system. If the ENJ coin does not reach zero, then the NFTs will always have value. The exchange of NFT for ENJ provides liquidity. The project is very useful for the Metaverse. In addition to ENJ, it supports digital assets through collector items and rarity.

  1. Bloktopia and BLOK

As it is with the Metaverse, this is another game based on VR. It is set in a 21-floor skyscraper. Bloktopia is the hub of social events. It is in this virtual world that you work, meet with friends or party. You can associate the 21 floors with the supply of BTC. The whole project uniquely uses the Polygon blockchain, which supports the four most important aspects of the ecosystem: learning, earning, playing and creating.

  1. Bit Country and the NUUM token

The system allows you to create your own Metaverse, NFT, and community tokens. The ecosystem is Polkadot’s hub. NUUM is a utility token in the Bit Country blockchain. With it, you can purchase land blocks for your BC or use as a liquidity pair for a community token. NUUM is also a project token, which is essential for building your Metaverse.

  1. Starlink and the STARL token

This is the first decentralized virtual space project entirely managed by the community. STARL is used to manage the ecosystem. In this project you buy, sell and exchange virtual satellites, spaceships, and plots of land. At the same time, you explore the Solar System. The entire system gives you unlimited possibilities.

  1. Decentral Games and the DG token

This is nothing more than the Metaverse casino. The DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization, is responsible for its management. Its task is also to run virtual 3D events, while using NFT. The ecosystem is powered by the DG utility token. You earn it by playing games, providing liquidity to the liquidity pool, or participating in votes.

  1. TopGoal

Something for football fans. It’s a card game that officially licenses football clubs, sports teams or players using NFT. You will find collectible cards in airdrops and sales. In addition to football games, the game also allows you to buy moments from the history of the sport of great footballers.

  1. Rfox Vault and RFOX tokens

Retail shopping? Why not, thanks to this system. The project was created by RedFOX Labs. It is the first initiative of its kind in the Metaverse. The ecosystem has two tokens: RFOX, which is the primary payment method for plots and assets, and VFOX, which is based on rewards.

This Metaverse features celebrity fashion houses, entrepreneurs and other famous retailers. The ecosystem allows people to shop, or take advantage of promotions and products, dedicated only to Metaverse customers. The project assumes short availability of a given product. For example, a jacket or t-shirt that appears in the shop will only be available for one hour. Rfox Vault will also give you the chance to interact with the founders, creators, and community. If you are active in the fashion world – this is the space for you.

  1. Cyber Dragon and BNX and Gold tokens

This is an online game in RPG style. Its creator is BinaryX. As a user, you hire NFT heroes and search for rare items and loot. Your goal is to defeat Cyber Dragon. He is a super powerful boss with a mass of precious treasures. There are two native tokens in the game: BNX, which is used for management, and Gold, which is the in-game currency.

The game has a Cyber Dragon treasury, which is constantly growing thanks to payments received by users. If someone defeats the dragon, then the treasure they have accumulated will be distributed to users as a reward.

  1. Alien Words and TLM

The game, available on Binance Smart Chain, Ethereum, and WAX. As a player, you own land, fight and collect NFT. Everything takes place in a distant galaxy with science fiction elements. In your games, you compete for the Trilium cryptocurrency (TLM). The system focuses on: DAO planets, taking NFT and staking.

  1. SecondLive

This is another Metaverse, working because of 3D reality. Using it, users can meet others, shop, work, or even run administrative errands. You create your virtual avatar and also create content yourself. As a player, you can use four modules and sell your content: avatar editor, space explorer, scenario editor and second live marketplace.

  1. My Neighbour Alice

It is a free multiplayer simulation game. Players own their virtual lands, interact with their neighbours, perform exciting daily activities and earn rewards for their achievements.

ALICE is the game’s native ERC-20 token. It can be earned in-game through events and competitions, among other things. The token also powers the My Neighbor Alice NFT Marketplace, allowing players to trade and profit from their creations.

We have outlined over a dozen Metaverse projects. New games and platforms using the Metaverse are emerging daily. Still – the Metaverse system and community are at a very early stage of development. Everything is ahead of us, but keep an eye on the projects mentioned above and the news that is sure to come.
